Zoom groups for parents / family / friends of people who self-harm
|
"I was very nervous the first time I attended. I wasn't sure what to expect and I was afraid of being judged. Also I was worried it was going to be really depressing and upsetting. I find the group really supportive and a safe space to talk about anything. I felt it was good to hear from others going through the same thing" |
Self-harm can feel like a subject you can’t talk about — not with your neighbour, not with your colleagues — and the stigma often leaves families and friends feeling isolated as they try to support their loved one alone.
You don’t have to carry this on your own. Our regular virtual groups offer a safe, understanding space for adults supporting someone who self-harms, whatever their age. Here, you’ll find connection, reassurance, and practical support from people who truly understand. |
|
Our groups run on Mondays and Tuesdays (alternating) from 6:30–8:00pm. Please check the calendar below for exact dates (note: not all groups run in August with no groups running between Christmas and New Year). Each session is capped at 12 participants (including facilitators) to keep the space supportive and welcoming. You’re free to keep your camera off and register under any name you feel comfortable with.
We also offer drop-in face-to-face groups for family and friends in Leeds, running fortnightly on Wednesday evenings. You don’t need to live in Leeds to attend — everyone is welcome. |
"I gain so much insight and support from the group. It is so helpful" |
Our groups are ongoing but here is the calendar for the next few months.

"Me and my husband joined battle scars support group this year. From just a few meetings, we have gained a lot of knowledge and also ideas of how to help our son. It was very daunting at first, as we didn’t know what to expect from the group, but we were put at ease from the start. We so look forward to the meetings now, as everyone is in the same position. We really can say what we are having to deal with. There is no judgment, or having to make excuses of why our son self-harms. Even though Covid has stopped the group face to face, doing it on zoom is just as productive. We never end the session feeling down or upset, we actually leave smiling"
