group activity self-harm self-awareness
We are now in position to re-start two of our Leeds groups (see below for locations, dates & times). Social distancing is possible at all F2F groups. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please be considerate of others and attend one of our virtual groups.

Both Hubs are spacious to allow for some social distancing. Please bear in mind, drinks and snacks will not be available.

The groups meet every four weeks and are ongoing. No referral is required, please just turn up. Service users can attend as many groups as they wish within the 4 weeks.

The aims of the groups are:
  • To provide a safe space for people who self-harm to express themselves without fear of judgement, to explore their emotions with peer support and get a better understanding of their self-harm.
  • To ensure people who self-harm do not feel isolated and lessen the despair often felt.
  • To help people who self-harm feel better about themselves, to increase their self-esteem and confidence, to engage in peer support, to help and be helped.
  • To remove the stigma from self-harm.
  • To help family, friends and carers of people who self-harm to get a better understanding of self-harm, express their emotions, receive support, alleviate isolation and the feelings of despair they may experience.
  • To help anybody who is interested get a better understanding of the issues surrounding self-harm by partaking in discussions with survivors.
In order to keep the group, its members and the facilitators safe, we have facilitator teams of 4 (even though not everybody will be there every time). If you need to have a private chat with a facilitator, there will be opportunities during the break or at the end. Our facilitators are highly trained but please remember, they are peers, people like you who are affected by self-harm. If you're in crisis, they may only be able to signpost or ring the Crisis team or an ambulance for you.
Please feel free to contact us for more information.
